WFT Today: 2020 Review

Well the rest the Washington football team really did well this year as they exceeded expectations and this is a brief or not so brief year in review of the team so let’s jump forward to Saturday evenings contest.

But before Saturday evening, let’s review or  look at some symmetry from 2019 to 2029: Tom Brady came in as a Patriot here against Washington in 2019…however those who looked at the game closely there were good moments for WFT. Maybe our town misread the personnel of the 3-13 2019 squad. Whatever the case, our 7-9 record should be encouraging. This blogger like to keep all the same personnel on the training camp roster with few addition. We are young, gelling, mean, a very good 1st year for a team on the rise? It is the early part of a new decade still and thankfully this season ended for WFT the way it did!

First off Steve Sims, Jr. really had his first highlight moment of his WFT career against Brady and NE in 2019. In the first quarter one of the first plays of the game as this blogger remembers, Sims took an end around 66 yards for a td. Sorry no time for researching a play like Sims, Jr. Going on memory.

Secondly, the 2019 team was very good at holding opponents  inside the red zone to fog or get stops, no time to check on stats on red zone d or compare…but it was a reason for concern this off-season if the stats do not gimprove…so, in 2019, late in the first half there was a Montae Nicholson sighting as he  actually intercepted of Brady normally sure fire corner td pass—to give WFT a slight deficit at halftime.

It looked like this past sat, Brady in a better offensive system seemed to be doing better completing similar over the shoulder passes against us. Brady from this blogger perspective appears more like the GOAT.

However,  WFTs defensive system under Gruden and maybe since Snyder or since our last super bowl have been hole ridden and pretty mediocre including no 12 win seasons; something to shoot for next year.

In 2019, it looked like Brady had the ability to completely find uncover receivership will against Gruden and WFT.

in the building of a new system by Rivera, it seems like finally we have a system that for every play is on top of covering players. On Saturday there might have been breakdowns in execution and even a few free receivers. But in general our team is finally lining up and playing football.

Actually, Bill Callahan who took WFT over a  8 game stretch to three wins five losses before losing his last 4 in an obvious Chase Young tank as the whole town seemed right in getting DMV own Young… so there were outlets in town pre covid after reviewing schedules had WFT team as high as 8-8.

Yet, nationally most all of the  rankings this blogger could remember: 31st or 32nd and Trevor Lawrence.

So are we ecstatic with next seasons roster standing at 7-9, no not today.

Taylor Heinecke, Heineken‘s back in town. Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio and Scott Turner, Alex Smith’s comeback, Terry McLauren…names and names

Finally, those who are consumed with personnel have a happy off-season of hope for our team being championship bound next season (NFC?).

That most of us were wrong about how good and how exciting pro football can still be for town, the politics of this team from Bobby Mitchell’s and Joe Bugel’s passing, RIP the name Redskins and the George Preston Marshall legacy, the hiring of woman and trailblazing Presidents, GM…will we improve? This season as sad as we feel about not winning a championship yes we finally saw major improvements innovation and trailblazing.

Yes, this blogger still favors a new with some character and identities. Of a good political name change and that name change this blogger would go with would be Washington Trail.

I was ecstatic with the original choice by Snuder to change the name because this blogger had been listening somewhat since pre super bowl XXVI to native concerns.

Currently, demands of Native Americans were met, bravo Dan for getting it right.

Furthermore I just feel the Washington Trail short for Trailblazers with an image of Harriet Tubman would be legacy and anti neo-fascist. It will really inspire of the people, for the people, by the people-

I feel it’s time especially given BLM supporters, ALM supporters,  on calling on the team to name to team the Washington trail… think of our radio personalities, “we’re on the comeback trail today.” Yes, the radio team was very good this season and made the games enjoyable…So, it is said by buds in town, “we can’t have a woman on the helmet” it is a men’s team.

well I say that we need to trailblazers because if we are trailblazing for everyone all lives matter Black Lives Matter blue lives matter everyone participates here in town.
