The 2018 Redskins Season Schedule is Out – A Quick Glance at the Good and the Bad

The NFL Thursday evening released the entire slate for the 2018 NFL season, including the 16 game schedule for the Redskins, an annual big day in the life of football fans everywhere.

Here’s a quick look at the Redskins schedule, along with two quick thoughts on the good of the schedule, and the not so good.

The Good: Two of the last three for the Redskins are at home, and oddly enough they are non-divisional or even non-NFC games, as they will play the Jaguars and Titans in weeks 15 and 16. They do end the season with a road game at Philadelphia against teh Super Bowl champion Eagles.

The Bad: It won’t be easy to get off to a quick start, as four of the first six games of the 2018 season are on the road, meaning that it’s critical for this team to win their first two home games against the Cards in week one and a MNF game against the Saints in week four.

Could ALLEN be sandbagging HANKINS, and sign him after the first round pick if the ‘SKINS get a DB or RB rather than a DL?

GUICE appears to be a reach without a trade back ten or so slots. Even PAYNE seems to be around a #17 pick.

Everybody wants FITZPATRICK, but I think he’s gone at #13.

  2. Ghost of Sammy Baugh says:

    Last mock before the draft

013 – DT, DB, or trade back for a Round 3 pick
    044 – RB
    109 – OG
142 – DT, CB depending on pick #13
    231 – TE DAVID WELLS

  3. Ghost of SAMMY BAUGH says:

I really think TY NSEKHE will start at LG this season.

    I think 5 QB’s, 3 DB’s 2 LB’s, a G, and a RB are picked before the REDSKINS, leaving both VEA and PAYNE at 13.

I think the REDSKINS should finish building the OL and DL before doing anything else. 2 picks apiece.

    013 – DL VITA VEA
    044 – C/G FRANK RAGNOW
    142 – S TROY APKE
    205 – DE ZACH SIELER
    231 – TE DAVID WELLS

  4. Ghost of SAMMY BAUGH says:

Well, we missed VEA by one pick and FITZPATRICK by two.

    And no trade-back either.

I see they stuck to the plan to bolster the DL.

Personally, with JAMES on the board, I would have taken him, but I don’t make those decisions.

    So, HANKINS is out now.

I really see a RB pick coming next with all the best interior OL already picked late in the first (RAGNOW, PRICE, WYNN).

Keep coach happy by giving him a versatile-back who can pick up a blitz.

Take ILB GENARD AVERY in the fourth unless he’s gone. His ranking has moved up the boards about seventy slots into the top 100

With TY NSEKHE available at LG take OT JOE NOTEBOOM or G/C SKYLER PHILLIPS in the fifth.

    S TROY APKE @ 163.

    DE ZACH SIELER @ 205.

    TE DAVID WELLS @ 231.

That’s four on defense, four on offense.

And hopefully DANO’s patience with the front office extends until after the 2019 season.

REDSKINS should be in beast-mode by then.

  5. Ghost of Sammy Baugh says:

Let’s look at the DL now that PAYNE is about to arrive.

ALLEN PAYNE LANIER – 1st string.
McGEE TAYLOR HOOD – 2nd string.
    IOANIDDIS – 3rd string.

TERRELL McCLAIN on the outside looking in with a contract to match. He’s toast.

  6. Forget Capt. KIRK and respect Capt. SMITH says:

No problems with PAYNE or GUICE.
Rather OT JOE NOTEBOOM at # 74

    S TROY APKE @ 163
    DE ZACH SIELER @ 205
    TE DAVID WELLS @ 231

  7. Ghost of Sammy Baugh says:

S TROY APKE in the house with the fourth pick. This guy is fast and big. With TORRIAN GRAY teaching him, if he’s a student of the game, he’s going to be a beast in time.

I see we got an ILB also. I would have preferred GENARD AVERY in the fourth.

A CB, and an OT, but no TE.

Need a guard, and we didn’t land one. More and more convinced that TY NSEKHE is now the starter.

NT TIM SETTLE looked terrible at the combine agility drills. He actually fell down trying one of the footwork drills. But a fifth pick was worth a flyer on him.

Looks like BPA was right out the window in this draft.

  8. Ghost of Sammy Baugh says:

HOOD’s job may be in jeopardy as well as McCLAIN’s with both PAYNE and SETTLE drafted.

I see SETTLE as strictly a NT, but PAYNE becoming more of a DE than a NT.

DE ALLEN DT IOANIDDIS on passing downs DE PAYNE
and NT SETTLE on potential running plays.
