McNabb coming to the Skins; Eagles trade QB to Washington for picks

In a move that some say was coming, but comes as a major shock as to where, the Philadelphia Eagles have sent veteran franchise QB Donovan McNabb to the divisional rival Washington Redskins. Reports say that the Eagles in return get a second-round pick (37th overall) in this month’s NFL draft and either a third- or fourth-round pick next year.

McNabb, a six-time Pro Bowl quarterback, led the Eagles to five NFC championship games and one Super Bowl in 11 seasons in Philadelphia. His failure to lead the team to its first NFL championship since 1940 plus the emergence of Kevin Kolb made him expendable. Kolb, who has started two games in three seasons, becomes the starter. Michael Vick is the backup.

For the Redskins, it means that Jason Campbell gets pushed to a backup role, or maybe the team may think twice about even keeping him on the roster all together.
