Washington Announces They’ve Dumped QB Alex Smith

In a move that wasn’t a surprise after it was announced he would not be back the other day, Friday Washington made it official they were cutting ties with former 49ers first-round pick Alex Smith.

The team put out a release about the roster move early Friday morning.

Last season Smith was a big reason Washington rallied to win the NFC East and get to the posteason.

He was 5-1 overall as a starter, and earned AP Comeback Player of the Year honors.

Now that Smith is history Washington will have to focus on what QB will be under center for the team in 2021 and beyond.

Some say the team is going to make a big push in free agency, while others think the team will draft a QB and insert them into the lineup day one.

We shall see, but for now the team is done with Smith’s services.

  1. Frank N. Stein says:

I guess Smith got his wish.
I understand he asked to leave.
    And our cap appreciates it.
If Brandon Scherff goes along with Ryan Kerrigan, the cap will be much healthier even if the team overall is not.
Thanks for the memories Alex even if you did bad mouth us in GQ.
I hope you appreciate our position.
It was for the good of the team.
    Good luck to you.
