Sync the radio with the TV, WFT!

My short list for the new Washington play by play guy was written about in a previous article and told as such: Chick Hernandez, Gus Johnson, Kevin Sheehan, Dan Hellie, George Johnson or Steve Buckhantz.

Boy was I wrong!

Yet, I am excited with the new assembled Washington Football Team Broadcasting team!  Let us give these guys and lady a chance to work some magic in the booth and on the field if they have a sideline presence.

Bram Weinstein doing play by play with Julie Donaldson and DeAngelo Hall in the booth.   Also, this writer has heard reports that London Fletcher will be a contributor.  This writer also hopes Rick ‘Doc’ Walker sticks around the booth or the telecasts.  This writer sure there will be other additions.  But so far, it sounds like this broadcast got some heart and professionalism.

Bram Weinstein (play by play):  This writer has been familiar with Bram or this writer has followed Bram through the years.  Bram covered the Redskins as a beat reporter, was an ESPN anchor and this writer was glad when Bram returned to this market.  Bram’s weekday radio show on 630 am is entertaining and at times he can be funny.  Well, he tries.  This writer is glad WFT has brought a local kid to be the voice of WFT.

Once again, I just have followed Julie Donaldson and  DeAngelo Hall on Comcast SportsNet and NFL Network, respectively as reporters and Hall as a player.

This writer has the view that Julie is very professional and a competent reporter.

Hall is a very good orator and has the gift of gab. This is writer is unfamiliar with London Fletcher as a reporter but willing to give him a chance to become a WFT fixture.

At least for a season or two, Fletcher and Hall were elite players.

This writer hopes and believes it is vital for continuity that voice of WFT, Rick ‘Doc’ Walker stays in the booth or in some capacity as this writer is a huge fan of everything Doc.

This group has a lot of potential to be entertaining, teach us about football and fun and hysterical, at times.  Here is hoping.

This writer must admit he was never thrilled with the Chris Cooley-Larry Michael-Doc-Sonny team or really any broadcasting team since Frank left.

This writer thought that Doc and Sonny have carried broadcast teams in recent seasons.  Yet, this writer did not listen too much to the radio for decades. Why? Because the games no longer sync with the television and this is an outrage!

This writer has no idea why this is the case!  Heck, may be in the past season they have re-synced.  But for years, a viewer had the choice of seeing the play and then hearing the play or vice versa and it ruined the WFT tradition of turning down the tv sound, at least, on my systems.

So for years, this writer has gone with the generic, plastic ‘fox’ and ‘cbs’ or whatever other outlets announcers and; mostly, horrid those announcers have been.  Heck, Madden, Romo, Aikman, Dierdorf, Keith Jackson–no one compared to Sonny, Frank, and Sam when they were on their game and most weeks they were, on!

So, can we please get the tv and radio synced up again!  Lets bring back the home town broadcasters.  May be we will have Democrats and Republicans agreeing about some things on the field again!

Because of this lack of sync, this writer never really had the previous radio group grow on me like the years of Sonny, Sam and Frank and the tv volume at mute.  Actually, turning down the tv has become a lost tradition for many WFT fans.

This writer does not know if it is just Verizon or Direct TV or Cox or something dealing with airwaves; but, now the tv and radio broadcasts are too many seconds apart–ruining a connection and ruining listening to the hometown squad while watching the team on the tv playing football.

It sure would be nice if we could be watching the game with the tv volume down and this new broadcast team at work.  Maybe it would help bring back a heyday.

Heck, the way our afternoons have been spent following this team the previous decade, it could not have gotten much worse…whether Frank, Sonny, Chris, Doc, volume on or volume off…  whoever is in charge of this, has made our Sundays worse!  Dan Snyder? 980 am? Fox? Let’s sync up the telecasts again, it is a better afternoon, or, evening, or, morning (who remembers London, anyhow).

Lets get some good homer calls back in town.  To hear about the Dallas refs, the dirty Philly players, and how about how mean WFT looks today.  Yes–WFT, today!
