Is it WFT or WTF!

Is it WFT or WTF?

This writer was taking a victory lap about two weeks ago when Washington Football Team Owner Dan Snyder’s clan et al. announced the racist team name was being retired.  Redskin–a term like Injun–which was used while a genocide against the Native American was being had in this country, was asked to be retired by Native Americans organization such as NATC and a corporate ask…and it was retired.   Bravo, Dan et. al.

Wow!  With the predictions of us being really bad this year and in line for the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes, this retiring was our Super Bowl victory for the next few seasons or early part of this decade.  Heck add in, that just a few weeks before, when our players addressed racial inequality and were booed off center stage given our former racist name while archrivals like the Cowboys Dak Prescott gave a millions dollars to address police in Dallas, this name change really was a victory on many different levels.

By the way, this writer has not give up on this season.  This writer point to coaches like Bruce Arianas who came in and in their first year led their team to the playoffs to not give up hope on a great 1st year.

Secondly, often times, great quarterbacks make that leap in the 1st or 2nd year.  Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, Ben Roethlisberger all took struggling franchises and turn them into winners.

There is nothing that says with a proven winner in head coach Ron Rivera, WFT will have to be poor record-wise this year.  A new system could have pundits eating crow in this town and nationally especially if WFT makes a postseason run and a post season run as WFT.

This writer rejects all these foolish predictions anyhow.  Too many factors come into each game including injuries and weather and players maturation—we do play these games for a reason, right!

Rivera is JUST learning what he has and WFT has yet to have one regular season game, WFT will have a better feel for whether WFT is going for the division or Trevor Lawrence sweepstake by about game 5; but, do not count out Dwayne Haskins,  Alex Smith or a Kyle Allen led contender or some combination of the 3.

BUT, that being said, is it WFT or WTF?

At least, this writer knows what term we will be using after game day mistakes: WTF, WFT!  However, off the field since the name change, WFT has been absurd.

After changing the name of the team, this organization had made some good news like the hiring of Julie Donaldson but mostly foul and miserable news culminating in the release of Derrius Guice last night.

This writer still has such a bad taste in his mouth from the sudden, excuse me, sudden is an under-statement resignation of Larry Michaels and others.  The voice of this organization resigning for sexual harassment charges-whether proven innocent or guilty, did these men at the park not receive sexual harassment training over the years, obviously there is something amiss.

This writer could have played the movie “9 to 5” starring Dolly Pardon to show how male dominated cultures are foul for anyone who feels PC has gone too far.  This news depressed this writer even though knowing not too rush to judgement.

Both left wing PC-Me Too Movements people and Right-Wing Tea Party Libertarian People can now unite in disdain to everything Washington football.

Ten years ago when Bruce Allen came to town Allen was preaching changing the culture.  Rivera has been preaching changing the culture…

This writer must now ask: what the heck does changing the culture mean?

Montae Nicholson, Derrius Guice…where are the Art Monk? Tim Johnson? Joe Gibbs?

Right now, our owner has a bet that winning will cure all. Yes, WFT had a 3-3 stretch last year and Adrian Petersen looks like a man amongst boys.  WFT might come roaring back.  But what this writer really wants is a plan to what culture change means, ASAP!

Next, the WFT organization actually following it!

Mind you, ten years after new coaches and GMs–time for us fans to get a definition and time for Snyder et al. to commit to it instead of giving us lip service.

In BLM, many are saying ‘enough is enough.’  With WFT, we have said ‘enough is enough.’  Get it right, Dan or get out!  Win, lose or draw.  It has now been over 10 seasons of culture change talk.   Getting it wrong again, WTF!
