Redskins OC Kevin O’Connell the Front Runner to Be the Team’s New Head Coach?

“Many in the league are convinced” the Redskins will eventually promote offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell to replace fired head coach Jay Gruden according to Mark Maske of the Washington Post.
The 34-year-old O’Connell’s playing career just ended in 2012, while he has been coaching since only 2015.

2019 is his first year as offensive coordinator after two seasons as the quarterbacks coach and the Redskins offense has not exactly been humming.

It would be a desperate promotion, to put it mildly. The Redskins let Sean McVay out from under their noses and will try to cut corners into finding another one. It would be a perfectly Washington outcome.
