Adrian Peterson Back as the Redskins Starter at RB After Injury to Derrius Guice

Adrian Peterson is back in the Washington Redskins’ starting lineup, Kevin Patra of reports.

With Derrius Guice injured, coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday that Adrian Peterson will get the start Sunday versus the Cowboys.

The 34-year-old Peterson was inactive Sunday in the Redskins season-opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles as Gruden decided to ride with Guice.

The second-year pro, however, suffered another knee injury — opposite leg of the torn ACL that cost Guice his entire rookie campaign — and is expected to miss a few weeks. Gruden said there is no update on the running back’s health as of Wednesday.

So Gruden will turn back to Peterson to carry the load on first and second downs.

After Sunday’s tilt, the coach explained All Day being inactive by saying: “So if we have a game where we think we can run the ball 55 times in a game in an I-formation, then sure, I’ll get him up.”

With Guice’s injury, the Redskins now need Peterson.

Gruden said he talked to Peterson, and the running back is in “a good place” after being inactive.

As for whether the situation could arise where AD is inactive once again, Gruden pushed that question into the future.

“That’s in the past,” he said “We’ll worry about (that) when they’re both healthy again. If that decision has to come again.”

For a third year in a row, major injuries are piling up.
Looks like the squad will have another M.A.S.H. unit season.
    already cut on.
And I have probably forgotten three others.

    Non-surgical loss:
    JORDAN REED [what’s new?]

    Drafted injured BRYCE LOVE
How brain-dead do you have to be to draft a RB who can’t even run?

  3. 70 year REDSKINS fan says:

Three games in, and REDSKINS fans are already pining for the off-season.
It isn’t only that the ‘Skins are 0-3, it’s the embarrassing way they are losing.

    My take or REDSKINS management

In regard to ALLEN’s removal, one sycophant out, another sycophant in.
Like others around WASHINGTON, SNYDER will brook no one telling him the truth.
The only truth DANO knows is what he perceives.
In relation to football, that is obviously fallacious.

That said, ALLEN is a weasel.
I think he’s been poisoning GRUDEN’s well for some time.
Where perceived slights are concerned, ALLEN doesn’t forgive or forget.
Now when it comes to GRUDEN, I think he’s over matched as a head coach.
As an offensive assistant, I think he is well suited.

So we’ll soon have a new head coach.
Possibly even a new general manager.
Then the cycle of ineptitude will develop again.
The person making the leadership selections will continually undermine the abilities of whomever resides in the GM’s and HC’s offices.

The SNYDER-Star is the brightest star that shines in REDSKINS-Land.
