Redskins to Add Seahawks Wide Out Paul Richardson

The Redskins will add speed back to their receiving corps, Kevin Patra of NFL.com reports.

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported Tuesday the Redskins are expected to sign ex-Seattle Seahawks receiver Paul Richardson to a five-year, $40 million deal with $20 million in guarantees, according to sources familiar with the deal.

Adam Caplan of SiriusXM NFL Radio first reported the deal.

Richardson spent his first four seasons in Seattle after being selected in the second round in 2014. The 6-foot receiver busted out last year, compiling 44 receptions, 703 yards and 6 TDs.

The 25-year-old became a big-play target for Russell Wilson, playing off the attention paid to Doug Baldwin, averaging 16.0 yards per reception. His play all but guaranteed he priced himself out of Seattle.

  1. Fill those holes Redskins says:

    OFFENSE:

QB completed. Will we get a development QB in the draft?

    (3) SMITH, McCOY, 5th pick.

RB early or late in the draft, we need one. Just say “no” to FA’s.

    (4) PERINE, KELLEY, MARSHALL, 2nd pick.

WR. One hole filled. Sign BRIAN…….quick, and finish the WR department.

    (6) RICHARDSON, DOCTSON, CROWDER, HARRIS, DAVIS, [QUICK].

Maybe TE MANASSA GARNER will be the NILES PAUL replacement after all.

    (4) REED, DAVIS, SPRENKLE, GARNER.

OT TY NSEKHE for LG. T.J. CLEMMONS for third tackle. We’ll need a new low-round draft recruit for fourth back-up.

    (8) WILLIAMS, NSEKHE, ROULLIER, SCHERFF, MOSES, CLEMMONS, KOUANDJIO, 6th pick.

    Total = 25.

    DEFENSE:

So many “if’s” on defense @ this poin.

    High draft pick at DT/DE.

    (7) ALLEN, IOANIDDIS, LANIER, HOOD, McCLAIN, McGEE, 1st pick.

Must sign one of GALLETT, or MURPHY. MURPH is my preference. Draft an OLB mid-round.

    (4) KERRIGAN, SMITH, [MURPHY/GALLETT], ANDERSON

    Sign BROWN.

    (5) FOSTER, [BROWN], HARVEY-CLEMONS, SPEIGHT, VIGIL

    CRAVENS stays as slot corner.

    (5) NORMAN, DUNBAR, MOREAU, HOLSEY, CRAVENS.

    Safety position set.

    (4) SWEARINGER, NICHOLSON, EVERETT, SMITHSON.

    Sub Total = 25

If we whiff on FA’s going forward, we’ll need a QB [5], RB [2], OT [6], DE/DT [1], OLB [4], ILB [7] and we can gamble on the other seven. I would consider either a DE/OLB or ILB.

With HITCHENS signed, we’re in a tight spot money-wise. Two of MURPHY/GALLETT, and BROWN will undoubtedly break the bank, and the picks left after other needs are of the bare-cupboard variety.

If we can sign DONTARI POE, that’s frees a 1st pick for either an OLB or a ILB. That’s still tight money-wise.

Time for DARTH VADER to earn his keep.

  2. Let it be known says:

Well that was QUICK, but crickets afterward.

    Is POE not in play?

With MURPHY gone, GALLETT is the flavor of the moment. Better sweeten that offer. He is needed.

    Then see about ILB BROWN.

LOOKS like he’s not getting the 10.5 million per, guaranteed he wanted. Other offers appear to be in the same range of the REDSKINS, 8-9 million. Otherwise I’m sure he’d be gone by now.

Would love to see both GALLETT and BROWN back on reasonable contracts of a two-three year duration.

And today we inked a punter………yeah. That was needed right now.

Other areas pundits have been crying about, G/C, OT, TE, DE/DT. OLB, ILB, CB, S – were my conjectures yesterday about to be realized? GARNER @ TE, NSEKHE @ LG, CRAVENS @ CB, SMITHSON @ FS?

Doesn’t look like we are getting a 3rd pick for CRAVENS. If we go for a FA corner like MATHIEU, we have to accept an unacceptable low pick, or cut CRAVENS if nobody wants him. For better or worse, I think he stays and plays as a REDSKIN in 2018, and the Honey Badger digs for gold elsewhere.

Draft a third QB, a fourth OT, a back-up C/G, a DE/DT, a OLB, a ILB, a CB, a S? We don’t have that many picks. Somebody has to come in as a FA in those slots.

Lines are in the water no doubt, but the fish aren’t biting this morning. Now that it’s warmed up a bit this afternoon……. maybe…….?

  3. Treat Capt. KIRK with respect says:

    POE’s gone.

  4. Treat Capt. KIRK with respect says:

SULLIVAN’s nosing the bait, and he’d be a good catch. Right amount of experience, ability, and money. Let’s get it done.
