Redskins Bring Back Kicker Dustin Hopkins

Monday the Redskins re-signed kicker Dustin Hopkins, this despite him missing the final eight games of last season with a hip injury.

Hopkins, 27, has spent the past three seasons with the Redskins but missed eight games in 2017 because of a hip injury. He was activated off injured reserve for the final three weeks.

For the season he made 14 of 17 field goal attempts and all but one of his 19 extra point attempts.

Hopkins ranks 24th in field goal percentage over the past three seasons. He also had the ninth-most touchbacks during that period.

His best season was in 2015, when he made 25 of 28 field goal attempts and 39 of 40 extra points.

  1. DB in the draft says:

Could the REDSKINS management be thinking of plugging TY NSEKHE into left guard, and drafting a fourth OT this year in the sixth? At this point anything’s possible.

And I see my main WR interest is now a CHIEF, and PAUL RICHARDSON is the next man up. Crap!

Maybe they re-sign MIKE QUICK before he’s gone. Can’t say the same for RYAN GRANT or TERRELL PRYOR.

Got to believe they go high in the draft for a RB, low in the seventh for a future TE with PAUL on the way out.

Sign PHIL TAYLOR Sr. now for security purposes, another one-year 8-9 hundred thousand.

Sign one of JUNIOR GALLETT or TRENT MURPHY please.

CB, OLB, and DT scheduled for visits. Get DONTARI POE in here and lock him up to finish off the D-Line rebuild. Maybe they sign one of three obviating a high pick for one of those positions.

Sign best available at #13, FS, or ILB if possible, fifth on a CB.

Fourth pick at OLB if a FS goes to us in the first.

  2. DB in the draft says:

FS, RB, OLB, CB, OT, ILB, TE would be a nice draft, depending on what we retain and get in FA.

Lotta’ holes to fill. Not enough FA money to do it all.

  3. DB in the draft says:

Rumors are PAUL RICHARDSON age 25 will be a ‘Skin until he’s 30 @ 20 mill guaranteed and incentives/signing bonus on top. Imagine a bit back-end loaded to compensate for the incentive bonus that will undoubtedly be paid this season.

Think counting about 7 mill against the cap this year.

    1 – Offense:

a – NSEKHE to play LG, OT CLEMMONS to be swing tackle,, and an o-line draft pick unless they have an excellent futures player under contract. Don’t see much future in KOUANDJIO.

b – At this point WR:

CROWDER, DOCTSON, RICHARDSON, HARRIS, DAVIS, [re-sign QUICK]?

c – Draft RB RONALD JONES II, or someone like him in the second round.

d – A low-seventh round TE pick to replace PAUL.

2 – KIcking Unit now set.

3 – Defense wide open at this point.

a – 2 DT/DE needed. Re-sign TAYLOR Sr. In the first round, PAYNE is versatile two position player. VEA not as much.

b – 2 OLB’s needed. Really need to sign one of GALLETT or MURPHY, ANDERSON might switch to ILB and a FA or mid-round draft pick would then be in order for a fourth OLB.

c – 2 ILB’s needed. BARKLEY would be good with a # 1 pick. Too bad we don’t have 2 #1’s. ANDERSON could come inside.

d – 1 CB needed. Gotta’ think CRAVENS is not going to be it. CROMARTIE?

e – 1 S needed. JUSTIN REID in the third with the pick for CRAVENS IF a trade is made.
