TE Fred Davis Facing One Year Suspension For Failed Drug Test

Fred Davis

Redskins tight end Fred Davis, a pending free agent, faces another suspension for a failed marijuana test, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports citing a league source.

The former second-round pick of the Redskins has served a suspension in the past, with his off-field issues limiting his free-agent options. Set to be a free agent in March, Davis played sparingly last season and has been slowed by injuries as well after showing promise early in his career.

Davis’ time in Washington could be coming to an end, with this latest suspension the latest setback. Redskins draft pick Jordan Reed emerged as a key cog in the passing game prior to his concussion issues, and Logan Paulsen beat out Davis for playing time as a second tight end.
