The RedskinsGab staff makes their predictions for tonight’s nationally televised game between the Redskins vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
Rajan Nanavati: Far be it someone who never played professional or collegiate sports to bash a pro athlete, but let’s just be honest here: Christian Ponder, the current starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings, is a sub-par player at best. He averages less than one touchdown pass and more than one interception in every game he starts. He’s outside the top 20 starting QB’s in yards per attempt.
I fully expect the Redskins to put eight or nine guys in the box, generally doing everything they can to stop Adrian Peterson, and forcing Ponder to beat them. That doesn’t bode well for the Vikings offense, playing against a Redskins defense that has improved over the course of this season.
Prediction: Redskins win, 27-20.
Patrick Rice: Robert Griffin III season has flowed through peaks and valleys for most of the season. While most of us thought he had turned the corner against the Bears, he turned around and got beat to hell against Denver. Last week, with the offense concentrated on Alfred Morris, Griffin again looked like an the quarterback we came to love.
So how do the Redskins get Griffin going early? Simple. When Morris touches the ball 20+ times, the Redskins are 10-1. With a banged up secondary waiting in Minnesota, look for the Redskins to establish the run game and open up the offense for RGIII. I like the Redskins in this one as Griffin finally puts all the pieces together.
Prediction: Redskins win, 27-17
