The Redskins have signed quarterback Pat White, the former West Virginia star, who spent one season with the Miami Dolphins, three people with knowledge of the situation confirmed to Mike Jones of the Washington Post.
White was at Redskins Park on Wednesday, had a workout and passed a physical then signed an agreement on a deal to join the Redskins and return to the NFL.
White, the 44th overall pick of the 2009 draft, spent his rookie season as a backup for Miami, used primarily in Wildcat formations. White as a rookie went 0-for-5 passing and rushed for 81 yards on 21 carries. White was released following the 2010 preseason.
White then spent some time with the UFL’s Virginia Destroyers, and then had two brief stints in baseball, with the Kansas City Royals and Miami Marlins farm systems.
