Week 17 Redskins vs. Cowboys matchup moved to primetime slot

The NFL announced yesterday that the Week 17 matchup between the Redskins vs. Cowboys will be moved to the primetime slot of 8:20pm, and will be broadcasted accordingly on national TV on NBC.

The league originally had slated a matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings for the primetime slot, but that game will be moved to 4:25pm EST instead.

While the matchup between the Redskins and Cowboys will determine the NFC East champion, the Redskins can still clinch a playoff birth (but not the NFC East title) even with a loss to Dallas; Dallas cannot clinch a postseason birth without beating the Redskins.

If both the Chicago Bears (at Detroit) and the Vikings (at home against Green Bay) both lose, the Redskins will automatically make their first postseason appearance since the 2007 season.

So, the Redskins will actually know whether they’re headed to the postseason regardless before they even kickoff against Dallas.
