Various reports this morning are confirming that the Redskins have released kicker Graham Gano, just one day after he was presumed to have won the team’s kicking job over “challenger” Neil Rackers.
ESPN 980 and Mike Jones of the Washington Post’s Football Insider blog have confirmed Gano’s release.
Regarding the newly signed Billy Cundiff, from Rich Tandler’s “Real Redskins” Blog:
The 32-year-old Cundiff also has kicked for the Cowboys, Saints, and Browns. With Baltimore last year he was good on 28 of 37 field goals (75.7 percent).
His last kick, however, was his worst. He had a 32-yard attempt to send the AFC championship game against the Patriots into overtime but he missed the kick as time expired.
