TE Fred Davis Inks His Franchise Tender

Redskins tight end Fred Davis has signed his franchise tender.

In 2011, Davis was having a career year with 59 receptions for 796 yards and 3 touchdowns but was suspended for the final four games of the season for violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

The deadline for him to sign a long-term deal with the Redskins is July 16. Rich Tandler of CSNWashington reports it is extremely unlikely that Davis will be getting a new, multi-year contract. He is going to have to demonstrate that he can stay out of trouble before the Redskins are going to write him a big signing bonus check.
