Redskins coaching staff will meet with Robert Griffin III today

The Redskins coaching staff will meet with quarterback Robert Griffin III today, as part of the routine meet-and-greet & interviews that take place between teams and players at the NFL Combine.

Griffin held his media day yesterday at the combine, speaking right before Andrew Luck, where he mentioned having already met with several other teams, including the Cleveland Browns (perceived to be the Redskins “biggest competitor” in potentially acquiring Griffin), the Kansas City Chiefs, and Philadelphia Eagles. He told assembled reporters that he will be meeting with the Redskins today, after his main interview had concluded.

Running back Trent Richardson from the University of Alabama, who is widely considered to be a top 10 pick and perhaps one of the best running back prospects to enter the draft in years, also said he met with the Redskins coaching staff at the combine. It’s probably more of a due diligence factor from the Redskins brass to meet with someone like Richardson, but a potential running back duo of a bruiser like Richardson and a shifty guy like Roy Helu is intriguing, if nothing else.

Interestingly, the Redskins also met with three offensive tackle prospects projected to be first round picks — Riley Reiff from the University of Iowa, Jonathan Martin from Stanford University, and Mike Adams from Ohio State — and asked all three about their comfort level with playing right tackle. Right Tackle is a key need area for the Redskins, as seems like Jammal Brown is simply not the answer the coaching staff hoped he could be. There’s a lot of speculation that the Redskins will address this spot in free agency, but with a weak free agent crop at the position, perhaps they’ll look for an immediate solution in the draft.

I don’t see any help in FA at QB or R-OT. Unless MANNING goes to TEXAS, and they release MATT SCHAUB, I say forget the FA QB’s. Same with OT’s. Now G and C there are great FA prospects.

I think we are going to have to look to the draft for both QB and R-OT. If we go after RG3, there will be nothing left to get the o-line rebuilt to protect him. To me it’s putting the cart before the horse to go after a high pick QB this year. Better to get another 8-10 excellent players in the draft.

Take TANNEHILL or WEEDEN, then trade them next season for picks, and throw the whole draft at the worst team in the 2012 regular season for MATT BARKLEY.

O.K. Rajan. yesterday what happened? It’s tomorrow already. What did the REDSKINS rep say about the meeting? Inquiring minds want to know.

Put that to rest RAJAN. The numbers RG3 put up today moved his cost into the rhelm of insanity. Pundits are now saying to outbid the BROWNS the REDSKINS would need to pony up a 1,2, and 4 this year, a 1 and 3 in 2013, and a 1 in 2014.

Six top picks for RG3? How the h—-would we get the players needed for him to succeed? Makes more sense to keep jawing with St.Louis while moving down in the draft for more picks. Offer RFA LICHTENSTEIGER, and see if another pick can be had there. Get 9-10 more great to solid players in this draft, then play the 5-6 to 1 game with next season’s loser team. Use BECK for back-up, then take a second tier-QB in this draft, hope he’s shows up in 2012, then trade him next season for some of the picks that will be needed to move on MATT BARKLEY at #1 in 2013.
