Redskins Waive RB Ryan Torain

The Washington Redskins have waived running back Ryan Torain, Chris Russell of ESPN 980 in Washington reports.

In two seasons with the Redskins, Torain started 12 of 18 games and had 213 carries for 942 yards and five touchdowns with 24 receptions for 148 yards and two touchdowns out of the backfield. Torain had fallen behind rookies Roy Helu and Evan Royster on the Redskins’ depth chart.

Helu and Royster each have had a 100-yard rushing game this month.

To replace Torain on the 53-man roster, the Redskins are promoting rookie wide receiver Aldrick Robinson from the practice squad. A 2011 sixth-round pick out of Southern Methodist, Robinson has been on the practice squad since the start of the regular season.
