As I have been saying for years now, you fail to draft top o-linemean at your peril in this league.

And outside TRENT WILLIAMS, the REDSKINS have continually refused to pick top offensive linemen. Today the birds came home to roost.

Once again I will point out the obvious, JAMMAL BROWN, CHRIS CHESTER, and WILL MONTGOMERY are solid back-ups for the o-line, but they should not be starting. The REDSKINS MUST secure two top o-lineman in this next draft……a center and right tackle.

The FA’s they’ve secured [BROWN, HICKS, CHESTER, OLDENBURG], just aren’t top drawer players. And the lower round guys [COOK, ED WILLIAMS] and one undrafted linemen [WILLIE SMITH] can’t cut the mustard. The only FA pick that’s been good is LICHTENSTEIGER, and I attribute that more to his playing next to WILLIAMS than to being an excellent player.

I like JOHN BECK. If he isn’t killed before WILLIAMS returns healthy, I think he’s a servicable QB. ALLEN must replace the GROSS-man however with another journeyman QB, or if things continue to play out as they have for the past three games, a top QB, maybe THE top QB in the 2012 draft depending on how bad it gets this season.

Hopefully, CRIS COOLEY returns for a back-up role behind FRED DAVIS.

The ‘SKINS should not consider drafting another WR at this point because frankly, there haven’t been enough passes thrown close to AUSTIN, ARMSTRONG, HANKERSON, PAUL, GAFFNEY and STALLWORTH to tell what the club already has on hand. MOSS was the only reliable wide receiver, and will be next season also.

There’s nothing wrong with the defense that another top DE in addition to JARVIS JENKINS, replacements for ROCKY MAC and KEVIN BARNES and a fourth cover safety can’t cure. They need four defensive players to be a top unit and should be able to snag at least one of those in free agency. The others will hopefully come via the draft.

Right now, I think I would go R-OT [1], W-ILB [2], C [3], DE [4], OG [4], and best available at five, both six’s and seven with the possibility of picking a QB only if we’re in the top five. In that case, move all picks down one, and tap a top FA o-lineman, and I mean top-tier only and a top cover corner from FA.

Drafts after 2012 should then target players crippled by injuries, time, and back-up players because the starting slots will be filled by adequate personnel at that point.
