Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan indicated that left tackle Trent Williams will likely be out “two to three weeks,” as a result of the high ankle sprain he suffered in last Sunday’s game versus Philadelphia. He declined to elaborate any further on Williams’ timeline for recovery, or any other information on his injury overall.
However, because the injury shouldn’t keep Williams out for an extended amount of time, the Redskins will likely use backup tackle Sean Locklear at Left Tackle, and keep Jammal Brown at Right Tackle. There was some thought that Brown could move over to the left side to replace Williams while he was injured – Brown was a Pro Bowl left tackle for the New Orleans Saints – but the coaching staff sided against it, so as to keep as much continuity on the line as possible until Williams returns.
