Shanahan considered benching Hightower for Torain

Chris Russell of ESPN980 in Washington reports Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said he nearly replaced running back Tim Hightower in Monday night’s loss to the Cowboys in favor of Ryan Torain because Hightower kept slipping.

“I got a lot of belief in Ryan Torain,” Shanahan said.

In 2008, Shanahan drafted Torain in the fifth round out of Arizona State while in the Mile High City.
