Redskins release Casey Rabach

From John Keim of the Washington Examiner, via Twitter:

#Redskins released Casey Rabach. Just received a text message from him.

It’s been rumored that Kory Lichtensteiger, who spent most of last season playing left guard, would eventually take over at Center, once the team inevitably parted ways with Rabach. Now, it just looks like that plan will come to fruition sooner than later.

Rabach probably had one the worst seasons as a member of the Redskins, and probably his career, in 2010. Coming into his 11th season, he showed signs of decline on the field last year, but coaches still valued him for his intangibles and ability to recognize opposing defenses. But, it’s believe that Rabach’s release is part of the team’s focusing on building a younger team as a whole.
