Haynesworth’s Trial Delayed Until August

Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth’s misdemeanor sexual abuse trial has been delayed until August 2, Keith Alexander of The Washington Post reports.

Haynesworth’s attorney requested the delay to “accommodate the schedules of certain witnesses” in the trial, which was set to begin on Monday, July 11.

The 30-year-old Haynesworth is accused of sexually assaulting a waitress at the W Hotel in February, and was indicted by a grand jury in April. Haynesworth has maintained his innocence, rejecting a plea deal that would have dropped the sexual abuse charge in exchange for a guilty plea on a simple assault charge.
