Haynesworth’s Attorney Enters Not Guilty Plea in Sex Abuse Case

Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth entered a plea of not guilty to a charge of misdemeanor sexual abuse Tuesday morning. The plea was entered in Washington D.C. Superior Court by Haynesworth’s attorney and a trial date was set for July 11, 2011. Haynesworth himself did not appear in court.

Prosecutors had offered to drop the sexual abuse charge if Haynesworth would agree to plead guilty to simple assault but his attorney rejected the deal, stating that his client is innocent of all charges.

The defensive tackle was indicted by a D.C. grand jury in April in connection with an alleged Feb. 12 assault on a cocktail waitress at the W Hotel’s P.O.V. Roof Terrace and Lounge.
