ESPN.com’s NFL writers rank Chris Cooley 5th among all Tight Ends

ESPN.com’s NFL writers ranked the top 10 tight ends in the league today, and Chris Cooley of the Redskins was ranked 5th overall by aggregate vote.

Cooley finished behind Jason Witten of Dallas (who was ranked first overall), Antonio Gates of San Diego, Dallas Clark of Indianapolis, and Vernon Davis of San Francisco.

Colley finished the 2010 season with 77 receptions for 849 yards (tying a career high), despite going long stretches of time without registering any receptions during the latter part of the season. The running theme seemed to be how Cooley’s name never seemed to be called until the 4th quarter or later, as the season wore on.

The voting panel also represents the same group that snubbed linebacker Brian Orakpo from it’s “best pass rushers in the NFL” list, in which he didnt receive a single vote for being amongst the 10 best pass rushers in the league.
