Free Agent WR Andre Davis meets with Redskins

The Redskins reportedly were to meet with free agent wide receiver Andre Davis, formerly of the Houston Texans. There hasn’t been any definitive information regarding this, but according to ESPN 980’s Chris Russell, Davis had a “good visit,” though there doesn’t appear to be any signing imminent.

The move is likely exploratory in nature (at least in this point), probably due to Davis’ familiarity with the Redskins current offense. Davis’ career in Houston coincided with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s stint there as well, as both individuals came to Houston in 2007 (Shanahan joined the staff a wide receivers coach).

Davis, a Virginia Tech graduate, had one of the best seasons of his career in ’07, recording 33 receptions for 583 yards (career high) and three touchdowns. He also returned kicks for the Texans that year; during the last game of 2007, Davis returned two consecutive kickoffs for touchdowns, spanning 97 and 104 yards.
