Redskins Cut Left Guard Derrick Dockery

Mike Jones of The Washington Post reports that the team Wednesday cut left guard Derrick Dockery:

The Washington Redskins released left guard Derrick Dockery, according to the eight-year veteran offensive lineman.

Dockery, who was owed $3.82 million for the coming season, said that Coach Mike Shanahan informed him of his release Tuesday. The move came a day after the Redskins released running back Clinton Portis.

The move didn’t come as much of a surprise, said Dockery, who was coming off a frustrating season in which he suited up for only five games.

Prior to his benching in Week 3 against St. Louis, Dockery had started 111 straight games dating back to his rookie season out of Texas.
