Report: Haynesworth charged in alleged “road rage” incident

Even four weeks after he was last seen at Redskins park, Albert Haynesworth just can’t keep himself out of the news.

The Washington Post is reporting that Haynesworth “has been charged with simple assault for a road rage incident” that occured on Wednesday morning on Fairfax County Parkway in Reston, Virginia. THe incident is said to involve Haynesworth and a 38-year-old man driving a 1994 Honda Civic.

The driver of the civic reportedly felt like Haynesworth’s pickup truck was tailgating him, which he then responded to with a “non-verbal hand gesture.” At a stoplight near the entrance to Reston Hospital Center (at the intersection of New Dominion Parkway), the driver indicated that the driver of the pickup truck (whom he believed was Haynesworth) got out of his truck, leading to a brief exchange of words that culiminated in Haynesworth striking him.

Haynesworth was not arrested, but is planning to turn himself in within the next week, according to police. Simple assault, a Class 1 misdemeanor in Virginia, is punishable by up to 12 months in a county jail and a $2,500 fine, though a maximum sentence is rarely imposed for altercations

Regardless of the legal ramifications, it’s just another headache that the Redskins have to deal with from this toxic asset that they just cannot distance themselves from. His trade value has already plummeted, and this is certainly not going to help things.
