RedskinsGab Staff Super Bowl Picks

Some of our RedskinsGab Staff Writers have thrown their hats into the ring, casting their predictions for Super Bowl XLV, and why they think those teams will make it there.

Let’s have a look:

Keely Diven:

NFC Representative: Philadelphia Eagles
Why: It is impossible to overestimate Michael Vick’s motivation. Coming from prison and getting a second chance in the NFL, Vick knows that this season may be the best chance he’ll ever get to win it all. With the help of big-play receiver DeSean Jackson and explosive runner LeSean McCoy. Vick gives the Eagles the best shot at the title of any NFC team.

AFC Representative: New England Patriots
Why: The Patriots have played consistently high-level football all season and have showed no signs of slowing down. Tom Brady and his team benefit from excellent communication and cohesiveness, all thanks to the steady coaching of Bill Belichick. Most importantly, I can’t think of a team prepared to beat New England.

Super Bowl Champ: New England Patriots
Score: 34-31

L. Michelle Baker:

NFC Representative: Atlanta Falcons
Why: The Falcons will sweep the NFC, for one simple reason: Michael Vick. They’re out to prove that they don’t need him, that their fresh-faced youngster Matt Ryan is a better QB, that their coach is a better strategist, and that their defense is more powerful. The Eagles will play Atlanta, in Atlanta, and Atlanta will win. It’s their year. They proved it when they won against the Saints early in the year, and they’re about to make it for real.

AFC Representative: Baltimore Ravens
Why: I’m taking Baltimore, because Harbaugh and Flacco make a winning combination. I know that the Patriots are everybody’s favorite, again, and that Brady is 29-0 at home. But I also know that the Patriots went undefeated the year they lost the Super Bowl.

Super Bowl Champ: Atlanta Falcons
Score: 24-17

Steve Kerneklian:

NFC Representative: New Orleans Saints
Why: Their experience as a team, but especially at the quarterback position. My bias toward Philadelphia and their quarterback is obvious. I think they are a great team, but they aren’t mature enough to go to the Super Bowl.

AFC Representative: New England Patriots
Why: I don’t see how anybody is going to knock them off with such a solid coach, quarterback and personnel.

Super Bowl Champ: New England Patriots
Score: 24-10
