LaRon Landry placed on Injured Reserve

In a move to perhaps secure his full services for the upcoming season, the Redskins have placed LaRon Landry on Injured Reserve (IR) today, ending his 2010 season.

After spending far more time at Strong Safety this eason (as opposed to in years past), Landry was easily having the best year of his career. However, the injury he sustained to his Achilles tendon during the team’s loss to the Eagles on November 15th has sidelined him for every game since then.

Even with the time lost to this injury, Landry still leads the team in tackles for a loss, and ranks third on the team in overall tackles. He ranks fifth in the entire league in overall tackles by a Safety.

Reed Doughty, who has been filling in for Landry during his absence, now becomes the team’s full time starter at Strong Safety.
