Redskins not pursuing Vincent Jackson

Despite rumblings from San Diego radio stations earlier today, Redskins head coach all but emphatically denied the Redskins were in the mix for acquiring Chargers Wide Receiver Vincent Jackson. The Chargers have until 4:00pm today, otherwise Jackson’s suspension will remain at six games, instead of being reduced to four.

Per the Washington Post:

The Redskins have been mentioned as a team that could be interested in Jackson, but according to Coach Mike Shanahan, the team is not pursuing the receiver.

“That’s another rumor that comes up, and it’s a rumor. There’s no credence to it,” Shanahan said after practice Wednesday.

Asked if he’d like to the lay the rumor to rest, Shanahan said, “I think I just did.”

The reported asking price for Jackson has been rumored to be a 2nd and 3rd round pick, which some believe is too high for a player that will be suspended for four games, minimum.
