Trent Williams’ injury not as bad as initially feared

If you’re a Redskins fan, the following blurb should be enough to let loose an enormous sigh of relief:

An MRI of Williams’s left knee revealed no structural damage, the sources said. Williams suffered a knee contusion and a sprained toe, tests showed, but the injuries were not nearly as serious as the team initially feared

Watching big Trent damn near break out into tears while pointing to the side of his knee, and fearing that the big fella would be lost for the season with torn knee ligaments, almost made me vomit into the nearest trash receptacle. Losing Williams would have been as devastating an injury for the Redskins as any other player on the roster, including Donovan McNabb himself.

It’s being reported that Mike Shanahan will address the severity of Williams’ injury in his 3:00pm presser. But with a brutal trifecta of opponents following this weekend’s matchup against the Rams, every Redskins fan should be praying to anyone (or anything) you believe in that Williams will be back protecting McNabb’s blind side much sooner than later.
