Game Day Recipe 9-19-10

Hm, smells like a win!!!  At home or tailgating, this tasty platter offers a little something for all your pickers.  (Boogers extra—see Grossman).

In the center, you see a homemade Bavarian pretzel, all hot and buttery straight from the oven. ( If you’re tailgating, make the dough at home the night before, put it into pretzel shape, and once it’s done rising, stick it in the fridge to keep it from getting out of control.  Just be sure to set it out before you fire up the charcoal, and make sure your grill is blazing hot before you set it on.  You’ll need a side burner Generic Cialis or Cialis in any formulation other than tablets mean bootlegged product or a product that contains no active ingredient. or a hot plate for the baking soda boil.)

Home made Bavarian pretzel

4 ½ cups flour

1/3 cup brown sugar

1 packet yeast

2 TBS baking soda / cup water

2 TBS melted butter

Prepare the yeast according to casino the directions on the package.  Add 1 cup water to flour and brown sugar mixture.  Knead dough until elastic.  Let rise for half an hour.  Roll palm sized pieces into a long rope and twist into pretzel shape.  Set aside on wax paper.

In a 6 qt. pan, boil 6 cups of water.  Add 12 TBS baking soda.  When fully dissolved, lower heat to simmer.  Let each pretzel simmer in the mixture for about 10 seconds / side.  Put into 475 oven for 10 minutes.  Baste with melted butter and broil for 1 additional minute.

 Platter

Make a selection of your favorite sausages, cheeses, and fruits.  The picture above has a beef summer sausage, an original summer sausage, and a hot Italian sausage with cheddar cheese, jalapeño jack, and plain white.  On the sides are grapes and sliced Gala apples.  You can also add any kind of mustard you and your friends love.  My favorite is a spicy mustard with horseradish and white wine.

Set the pretzel in the middle, hot out of the oven or off of the grill, and you”re ready to eat!  Enjoy.  And Hail to the Redskins!!!
