McNabb Out VS Jets Friday

Redskins quarterback Donovan McNabb’s sprained left ankle will keep him out of Friday’s preseason game against the New York Jets.

McNabb has not practiced since being injured last Saturday against Baltimore.

Coach Mike Shanahan said McNabb’s ankle is “quite sore”, but he is able to walk on the treadmill.

“I don’t think he could go if it’s a regular season game,” Shanahan said.

Rex Grossman is expected to start, and McNabb’s absence opens up the possibility of Richard Bartel and John Beck to seeing action. Neither played last week.

“We haven’t really talked about [a rotation] yet,” Shanahan said. “We’ve had all of them rotate in practice, and we’ll sit down and get our game plan tomorrow or later tonight.”

Also out for the game are fullback Mike Sellers (knee), receiver Malcolm Kelly (hamstring) and safety Kareem Moore (knee). Fullback/tight end Dennis Morris did not practice (knee) but is still possible to play.
