Carucci On The Redskins, McNabb in 2010

There’s a live chat going on now at chat.nfl.com with Vic Carucci.  He’s fielded some Redskins specific questions and here are the answers:

Do you think Albert Haynesworth will work in Mike Shanahan’s new team structure?

I think he’d be foolish not to. The Redskins have a chance to be a much better team than they were last season, and Haynesworth should be aboard with that. If he isn’t, and his only concern is being comfortable within a specific defensive scheme, then his priorities are out of whack. The pressure really is on Haynesworth to decide what he wants to do/be.

Who do you think will be the surprise teams next season?

I’d keep an eye on Washington, with Donovan McNabb and other upgrades, and Oakland, with Jason Campbell and other upgrades. I’d put the Texans in that category as well, even though they looked to turn the corner last year.

Who do you think will have a better year Mcnabb or Kolb?

I think McNabb will have the better 2010 season mainly because Kolb needs to go through a transition to the starting role. Kolb has so much he still needs to learn before he finds a consistent comfort zone. I can see Kolb showing improvement by the second half of the season and being a better QB in 2011 and beyond. Meanwhile, I think McNabb will remain a top-level player for the next few years, at least.
