Veteran WR Furrey Signs With Skins

An interesting story via The Post, it seems Mike Furrey has been signed by the Redskins in an attempt to bolster their lackluster receiving corps.

In seven seasons, Furrey, 33, has 221 receptions for 2,298 yards and seven touchdowns. He also has experience in the return game, with 387 yards on 21 kickoff returns (an 18.4-yard average) and a 9.3-yard average on 23 punt returns.

Furrey, listed at 6-feet, 195 pounds, also has played defensive back in the NFL. During the 2005 season, Furrey started 11 games at safety for the St. Louis Rams and led the team with four interceptions. He returned one for a 67-yard touchdown.

With the Cleveland Browns last season, Furrey played in every game, starting two at wideout and two at safety. He caught 23 passes for 170 yards. As a defensive back, Furrey was credited with 14 tackles and two passes defensed.

The team made other roster moves Wednesday, releasing linebacker Alvin Bowen, defensive lineman Antoine Holmes, cornerback Marcus McCauley and tight end Sean Ryan.

Why stop there?  Let the T.O. talk resume once again…. he’s still available you know

😉
