T Minus Ten

Where has the time gone?  With only 10 days left until draft night… are you champing at the bit to find out who the Redskins end up with in the 2010 NFL Draft? I certainly am, but only in the sense that the anticipation and build up for the draft will be over. And if you’re a Redskins fan, I have some bad news for you — don’t hope for too much.  Here’s why….

In the best case scenarios, the first 3 rounds look something like this for the Redskins:

ROUND 1:

Russell Okung, OT, Oklahoma State

or

Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa

or

Trent Williams, OT, Oklahoma

ROUND 2:

[Traded for McNabb]

ROUND 3:

[Supplemental Draft Pick: DE Jeremy Jarmon, KY]

Wait a second, that is incredibly depressing…  how the hell can the Redskins completely fortify their offensive line with one pick in the early rounds?!?!  They really can’t, sadly, so basically the way the fourth and fifth rounds will shake out should look something like this:

ROUND 4:

Montario Hardesty, RB, Tennessee

You know Mike Shanahan is going to spend a mid- or late-round pick on a running back who will eventually rush for 1,000 yards. Montario Hardesty seems like he would be a really good fit for Shanahan’s offense. [via Walter Football]

ROUND 5:

Selvish Capers, OT, West Virginia

Even if the Redskins spend the No. 4 overall pick on Russell Okung, they’ll need to find more help at offensive tackle. Selvish Capers is an athletic tackle who projects well into Mike Shanahan’s blocking scheme. [via Walter Football]

Will it all go according to plan?  I seriously doubt it — but hopefully the questions about the O-line will be answered.  Considering all the RB and QB signings this offseason, maybe using ALL of the top picks on the line isn’t such a bad idea after all…
