Monday: Around The League

Here are some items that only peripherally effect the Redskins but are interesting none the less:

Tim Tebow may not attend the draftstory link

“I’ve got to figure out what will be more fun for me and my best for my family. But I have to say I liked what Joe Thomas did on the day of the draft a couple of years ago — he went fishing with his dad.”

I can understand wanting to avoid the endless presser, pictures, questions, and wanting to keep your family a priority…. but dude — this doesn’t exactly scream “I’m happy to be part of the NFL”.

Peter King of SI.com says that overtime rule changes are not likely to occur for 2010 season.

Albert Haynesworth was working out with his personal trainer instead of participating at voluntary team workouts last week and the Redskins knew he would bail after he made an appearance the first day.

Haynesworth, who is determined to have a big year in 2010, comitted to an individual workout regime with a trainer before the Redskins’ plans were set

To me, while this is a necessary tidbit to put in the update — most of us don’t care about these mundane details but if you do — well there you go.

DeAngelo Hall officially endorses Mike Shanahan’s rebuilding plan:

“Coach Shanahan has a plan for how he wants us to play and represent this organization. Get your work in, get ready and then just go out and play football. It’s all about getting the Redskins back on track.”

I like hearing more and more comments about how the team has rallied around their new staff.   To me, the most important intangible on the to do list in 2010 is generate a renewed sense of confidence that this team can compete with the best and win in the NFL.  Jim Zorn seemed to make more excuses than progress… it’s early in the season but this energy that’s being expressed certainly is encouraging.  story link
