Redskins In Florida For Tebow

According to NFL Fanhouse, Tim Tebow was privately working out for the Redskins yesterday:

A three-man evaluation team of coach Mike Shanahan, general manager Bruce Allen and director of player personnel Scott Campbell are scheduled to put the Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion through a private workout on the UF campus.

It does seem like a necessary road traveled, but in the back of my mind I am wondering where the signing of Rex Grossman fits in here.

This one is easy. Tebow will be Shanahan’s pet project. They can also use him this season for the wildcat formation, which isn’t done besides in Philly, in the NFC East. Grossman was brought in in case Campbell really does suck. My feeling is Campbell is there guy for now, but they don’t want to let a physical speciman like Tebow go if they dont have to.

  2. on the wildcat… they dont have the unit for it.

the trick is more found in the “direct snap” to a running back for the cowboys and giants. and frankly the Giants and Cowboys had a better rated offense overall without the usage of wildcat when compared to philly.

on top of that… after zorns gimmicky play-calling left such a bad taste in everyone’s mouth, I don’t expect to see too many zany offensive plays this year. I expect shanahan to still use a lot of short passes — slants and quick square in’s and such. but that will open up the big plays with the slant and go routes.

if the offensive line is fortified and the receivers can get hungry — and the defense stays solid… its on.
