Porter Picks Arizona, 3 Years

PFT has the report:

Free agent linebacker Joey Porter has agreed to a three-year contract with the Cardinals, according Darren Urban of the team’s official website.

Porter wrapped up a visit with the Redskins Friday, but he wanted to play near the West Coast and Arizona had a bigger need for an outside pass rusher. Porter should start for the Cardinals.

What was clear about the Joey Porter situation was that his play the last 3 seasons lacked consistency. I’m not shaken up by this free agent being taken off the market because there was no guarantee he would perform for the Skins. I think Arizona is taking a gamble but they have no choice due to Karlos Dansby’s departure. The Redskins could afford to hold off, their defense is not that far from a top 5 defense as it is.
