Posted in Washington reportedly contacted St. Louis about trading for DT Adam Carriker this week. Word is that Def. Coord. Jim Haslett thinks Carriker would be an ideal candidate to help the Redskins transition to a 3-4 defense in 2010. Carriker missed the entire 2009 regular season with a “significant” shoulder injury sustained in the Rams first preseason match up with the Chiefs.
No word yet on Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo’s thought about a trade, but in mid-February Spags did indicate that Carriker was “almost ready to go” in terms of his recovery.
The Redskins are clearly looking to get creative with their 2010 offseason game plan – as Haslett and Shanahan are basically willing to take a shot at acquiring an injured but very young tackle that the Rams might be willing to part with. Haslett feels the upside of this move is huge, but one thing to keep in mind is this – who would Spagnuolo want for his young project? And can the Redskins afford to deal out anyone when their depth is already very shaky at seemingly every position?

Didn’t they spend 100 million on Haynesworth? For that type of money he better be in on every play.
Carriker in a 3-4 Defense would excel.
Carriker simply does not fit as a 4-3 nose or UT – His is too light and too tall for the inside – He needs about 50 more pounds to be a space eater that is required to play the inside. If Carriker does get traded to the Skins and does move back to the position that fits his skills – He will become a positive addition to that organization!
