Skins running back coach Bobby Turner says don’t count running back Clinton Portis out just yet:
Portis, who turns 29 on Sept. 1, played in only eight games last year because of a concussion and has a $6.43 million guaranteed contract for ’10. But new running backs coach Bobby Turner, who also coached Portis in Denver, says he doesn’t look like a washed-up back on film.
“Oh, he definitely has something left,” Turner told The Washington Post. “We were excited about Clinton when we drafted him. And I’ve looked at a bunch of (2009) games, I mean, pretty close to every one. Matter of fact, to be precise, I’ve looked at 14 games already. Not that he was in 14, but he definitely has something left.”
