The Good, The Bad and the Ugly: Week One

The Good: Chris Cooley and Antwaan Randle El: Captain Chaos and A.R.E. were two of about seven Redskins that showed came to play on Sunday. Both had 7 catches. Randle El had 98 receiving yards while Cooley had 68. No drops and beautiful, hard earned yards after catch by both players were the only bright spots on the offense. Cooley even showcased his run blocking skills too which was something I thought was one of his weak spots in years prior.

The Bad: Jim Zorn’s play calling: It’s 3rd and 11. Your teams down by 10. What does one do? Well Jim Zorn decided to run the ball with his second string running back. After Clinton Portis rips off 34 yards on the 1st offensive play of the season for Washington, Zorn calls a double-reverse pass. Dubious play calling to say the least. Instead of verbally assaulting the starting QB, Jim Zorn should have cussed himself out.

The Ugly: The defensive secondary: Leave it to DeAngelo Hall to make Mario Manningham look like Plaxico Burress. Laron Landry was living up to his moniker of “Dirty 30” by committing his usual late-hits-out-of-bounds tacking on 15 more yards after an already large gain. Ugly game.
