Redskins and First-Round Pick Orakpo Come to Terms

The deal is done for Skins first-round pick Brian Orakpo, as Redskins.com and Pro Football Weekly reports they have a deal in place and he’ll be in camp:

The Redskins have reached agreement on contract terms with first-round draft pick Brian Orakpo, Redskins.com reported late Thursday.

The 13th overall draft choice was in Austin, Texas, late Thursday when told of the agreement. The linebacker/defensive end missed two practices Thursday as the Redskins began training camp, while the team and his agent were ironing out the final details of the contract.

Orakpo is expected to report to camp Friday, his 23rd birthday.

“I’m very excited,” Orakpo said. “Obviously, I want to get in as fast as I can because I am learning a new position as the strong-side linebacker and I’m very optimistic about the whole process. During OTAs and minicamps, I thought I did pretty well.”
