A Look Back at the Redskins 2008 Training Camp

July 30th, 2009 will be an extra special day for me. Summer school will finally be complete, my 20 day summer vacation will start, and the Redskins training camp will commence. After a 6 month football drought fans will be blessed with array of fresh football related news.

We will get to see and read and hear about how our favorite players have progressed since last year. But before we get into this year training camp lets take a look back at what made headlines last year.

Phillip Daniels and Alex Buzbee– Both players were lost for the entire season on the first day of camp last year. What made their injuries stand out more was the fact that it paved the way for Jason Taylor to come to D.C. and do a whole lot of nothing.

Position Battles– Last season there was a huge question mark as to who the #3 receiver was going to be. With Moss as #1 and Antwaan Randle E at #2 not much has changed this year except that James Thrash isn’t around. Will one of the 2nd round picks from 2008 make his presence felt this year? Let’s hope so because Moss and Campbell need help from another receiver.

Durant Brooks vs. Derrick Frost-
Remember these two wet-noodle-legged punters? Last year these guys were battling for the starting role. Neither is on the team anymore.

The upcoming training camp Redskins fans will be anxiously awaiting information on Colt Brennan, Brian Orakpo, and several others players trying to make the team. Redskins football is just around the corner
