Skins Not Expected to Offer Campbell a Contract Extension?

In somewhat of a surprise considering where the team is at with the QB spot, Jason La Canfora, of The Washington Post, reports the Redskins are not expected to offer QB Jason Campbell any kind of extension this offseason, according to sources. His contract expires after the 2009 season. If that is the case, the team may look at the free agent market this offseason, or possibly think about drafting a QB early on and grooming him for the future. Of course they may think they already have that with QB Colt Brennan.

    replaced.

This might be JC’s final year as a ‘Skin…He hasn’t shown us much.

  3. I’m kind of sick of this…we’ve had a lot of good, cheap QB projects in here since Rypien, but we seem to give up on them right as they’re coming into their own, Rich, Stan, Gus, Trent, Patrick, Sage, Gibran. That list may only include three all-pros and 4 career backups, but compared to the starters we’ve bled through in that time, John, Tony, Mark, Jeff, Brad, Shane, Danny, the guys we tend to give up on sure look better than the guys we’ve ordained. Do we really want to blow this up and go through all of that again already? I’ve got no problem with giving Colt a chance to win the job, but don’t just give away another QB for the sake of hoping we finally have a QB solution for the first time in 15 years. If you’re going to go through the agony of developing a guy, and he’s clearly got a ton of physical skills, you ought to at least let him play his way off the team for a change.

he stinks and its time to get rid of him..if you watched the pre season at all colt out played all the quarterbacks…and he can get out of his own way and not take so many horrible sacks…

All of you are crazy and I am glad you are not coaches!! Jason has got to be one of the smartest quarterbacks to be drafted in the last 4 years. Have you ever tried to learn so many different offensive playbooks each year. Give the guy a chance to flourish in one he plays in for more than a season. Hopefuly the big targets the skins drafted will pan out and he will have more options to go to. JC is a good quarterback and we don’t need another one gone too sone so they can go be great with another team. i.e. Trent Green!

I don’t think it’s all JC’s fault. The O-line has been brutal at times in pass protection and the only consistent pass catcher has been Cooley. That’s not going to help ANY quarterback out. Colt, JC, whoever. Surround him with some better players before you write him off as a bust.
