The Redskins signed three players Tuesday, including running back Shaun Alexander. The former Seahawks star is expected to back up Clinton Portis while Ladell Betts recovers from a knee injury. Betts is likely to be out two-to-four weeks. Alexander spent eight seasons in Seattle, where he rushed for 9,428 yards and 100 touchdowns.

In Washington, he will be reunited with head coach Jim Zorn, who was the quarterbacks coach for the Seahawks from 2001 until joining the ‘Skins this season. Washington also signed punter Ryan Plackemeier and safety Mike Green, added defensive back Mike Green to the roster, placed safety Reed Doughy on injured reserve, and released safety Justin Hamilton.
