Redskins Gear Up For Bills Saturday Night; Cut Schweigert
Posted by Matt Loede on August 5th, 2008 in Main

The Redskins will try to dial up their second straight preseason win Saturday night when they host the Buffalo Bills at FedEx Field. Yesterday, the Burgundy and Gold cut safety Stuart Schweigert. He was signed by Washington early last month. Schweigert was late to cover Onrea Jones Sunday in the 30-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts.
Jones caught a 30-yard scoring strike from quarterback Quinn Gray in the Hall of Fame game that cost the former Oakland Raider his job. Schweigert played four seasons for the Silver and Black. He was released this past May. Also yesterday, the Redskins re-signed safety Patrick Ghee and fullback Pete Schmitt. Linebacker Danny Verdun-Wheeler was released.
