Tight End Ecker Has Surgery for Injured Groin
Posted by Joseph Clifton on June 11th, 2008 filed in NewsRedskins Tight End Tyler Ecker underwent surgery today on his injured groin. The team expects Ecker to miss about 8 weeks. Tyler originally suffered the injury on the 1st day of Training Camp last season, resulting in a trip to the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list. So far this season Ecker has been unable to perform in OTA’s and mini camp.It is looking like Ecker will miss the start of Training camp, said Coach Zorn, “It’s going to be 8 weeks, I believe, before we can really get him back out going full speed.”
The team had been optimistic because the injury had been improving in recent weeks, but surgery was recommended by a groin specialist to minimize the chances of re-occurring. Ecker was a 7th round draft selection last season out of the University of Michigan.
