Redkins Add KR Mathis

Friday the Redskins made their first free agent acquisition of the year.  The Redskins signed former Pro Bowl kick returner Jerome Mathis.  The acquisition is a huge boost to the Redskins special teams.  The pick up could also bolster the Washington passing game.  Mathis is explosive speedster who holds the NCAA record for kick return average 26.6 yards per return, he also holds the record for kickoff returns for touchdown with six.  Jerome made the Pro Bowl team in 2005 for the Houston Texans,, but was injured much of the following 2 seasons.  The addition of Mathis should allow the offense to stretch the field.  Jerome has excellent speed which will allow him to get behind the defender and get deep.

As a Washington Redskins fan this is one of very few free agent acquisitions that I agree with.  Dan Snyder and the organization may have very well just made the biggest free agent addition in several years.
